SLPP Members Backing RW to Form New Party

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Members of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) who support independent President Ranil Wickramasinghe have announced plans to establish a new political party. 

This decision was revealed during a gathering in Colombo today, attended by nearly a hundred SLPP members.

The meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena and Minister Prasanna Ranatunga.

MP SB Dissanayake, speaking at a press conference following the meeting, confirmed that Prime Minister Gunawardena will lead the new party during the upcoming presidential election.
