Constitutional Council to convene on Friday (26)

COLOMBO (News1st); The Constitutional Council is set to convene on Friday (26), chaired by Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana.

The meeting is set to get underway at 10 am.

No one has been nominated for the vacant post of Inspector General of Police.

The Constitutional Council needs to approve the President's nomination in this regard.

Secretary to the Ministry of Public Security Viyani Gunathilaka said the administrative activities of the Police Department are being managed under his supervision.

He added that he is also receiving the support from senior DIGs.

The government is scheduled to make a special statement in Parliament on Friday (26) morning, regarding the order issued by the Supreme Court regarding the Inspector General of Police.
