Train Driver Suspended Amidst Alcohol Allegations

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Railways has taken action after receiving complaints from passengers regarding a train operating from Colombo to Kandy.

Allegations surfaced that the train's driver, was operating the locomotive under the influence of alcohol.

Deputy Railways Superintendent N. J. Idipolage confirmed that the driver has been suspended pending a special investigation.

Commuters reported that the train was running erratically and without apparent reason during its journey.

The scheduled arrival time in Kandy was 1:40 pm, but due to the alleged misconduct, the train arrived at 2:30 pm, causing inconvenience to passengers.
