Mahindananda Aluthgamage to deliver statement on assault carried out on Gunathilaka Rajapaksha

COLOMBO (News 1st); MP Mahindananda Aluthgamage and a number of other MPs are scheduled to deliver statements on the assault allegedly carried out on MP Gunathilaka Rajapaksha.

Police spokesperson Nihal Thalduwa says a statement on the incident was also recorded by MP Gunathilaka Rajapaksha yesterday.

The statement was recorded as the MP was undergoing treatment at the Army Hospital.

On the 3rd of June 2024, A complaint was filed with the Fort Police alleging that an assault by MP Mahindananda Aluthgamage resulted in serious bodily harm to MP Gunathilaka Rajapaksha.

The complaint, by the son of MP Gunathilaka, alleged that his father’s leg was broken following the assault by MP Aluthgamage.

Mahindananda Aluthgamage, in turn, strongly asserted that he was not involved in any such altercation.
