Pradeep Kodippili, the Disaster Management Center's director, highlighted the dispatch of boats to multiple locations aimed at rescuing those affected by the flooding.
Furthermore, he emphasized the imperative of promptly contacting the emergency hotline, 117, in case of such calamitous circumstances.
In related developments, adverse weather conditions, precipitated by heavy rainfall, have impacted a total of 159,991 individuals across 13 districts.
Regrettably, the toll includes 17 fatalities, with an additional thirteen individuals sustaining injuries in the wake of the disaster.
Tragically, one individual remains unaccounted for in Kalutara, as reported by the Disaster Management Center.
