Retired Army Major arrested over human trafficking retired Army personnel to the Russia-Ukraine war

COLOMBO (News1st); A retired Army Major and his wife have been arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department on charges of human trafficking of retired Army personnel to the Russia-Ukraine war.

Sri Lanka Police said the Major was arrested in Wattala, while his wife was arrested in Borella.

The two suspects were produced before the Negombo Magistrate's Court, following which his wife was released on bail.

Sri Lanka Police said the retired Major was remanded.

The CID has arrested nine people in connection with the incident thus far.
