One faction of SLFP rejects new party Chairman

COLOMBO (News 1st); Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe was unanimously appointed as the new chairman of Sri Lanka Freedom Party at the Executive Committee Meeting held today.

Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapaksa said that his appointment came after Maithripala Sirisena resigned from his position of party chairman.

He further said that Attorney Keerthi Udawatta was appointed as the acting General Secretary of the party.

However, the acting chairman of the party, Nimal Siripala De Silva and his faction say that they do not accept this appointment.
