Cyber Slavery: Sri Lankan Youths Freed from Captivity In Myanmar Return Home

COLOMBO (News 1st); Eight Sri Lankan youths, who were held captive by an armed group near the Myanmar-Thailand border, were liberated and today, they arrived back on their home soil, landing at Katunayake around 9:30 this morning after their journey from Bangkok, Thailand.

In light of their harrowing experiences, authorities made the prudent decision to ensure their safe return without compromising their identities.

Several months ago, a News 1st investigation brought to light a distressing situation: over fifty Sri Lankan youth found themselves ensnared in an area controlled by an armed group along the Myanmar-Thailand border.

These young individuals were coerced into participating in cyber crimes.

Recently, a glimmer of hope emerged when eight of these youths were finally freed.

Today, they returned to their homeland, arriving at Katunayake after their journey from Bangkok, Thailand.

As authorities working to secure the safe return of the remaining fifty plus Sri Lankan youths, trapped in two separate locations.
