COLOMBO (News 1st); The prospect of an open debate between Sajith Premadasa and Anura Kumara Dissanayake has become a focal point in Sri Lankan politics.

National People's Power leader, Anura Kumara Dissanayake, expressed his willingness to engage in a debate with Sajith Premadasa during an inquiry by News First.

Anura Kumara mentioned that Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa would oversee the coordination of these efforts.

He extended the invitation for Sajith Premadasa's team to nominate a representative to facilitate and prepare for the debate.

Meanwhile, Sunil Handunnetti has accepted the challenge presented for the National People's Power's Economic Council for an economic policy debate.

However, he stressed on the importance of a debate, specifically between the two presidential candidates.

Opposition leader Sajith Premadasa has also accepted the invitation for a debate.

In response to an inquiry by News First, Premadasa clarified that he Samagi Jana Balavegaya is yet to appoint a coordinator for the debate.
