Police deploy 20 teams for special operations

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Police will launch special operations on Tuesday (19) to eradicate organized criminals in the Southern and Western provinces.

Police Spokesperson DIG Nihal Thalduwa said that 20 teams, including the Special Task Force and a motorcycle unit, will be deployed for the operations.

He added that the operations will be launched under the supervision of IGP Deshabandu Tennakoon.

Meanwhile, in a separate operation on Monday (18), Police arrested 1073 suspects during Operation Yukthiya.

The Ministry of Public Security said that 54 of the arrested suspects were identified as those previously referred to the crime branch.
