CID to investigate registered pharmaceutical companies

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has been tasked with investigating all registered pharmaceutical companies in Sri Lanka.

This decision came after a meeting chaired by the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in charge of the CID.

Authorities will place extra scrutiny on companies that supplied drugs to the company involved in the recent medicine scandal.

The meeting emphasized the need to strengthen ongoing investigations into the Human Immunoglobulin scandal.

Police recently consulted with the Attorney General to ensure legal alignment in their investigation.

Former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, former Ministry Secretary Janaka Sri Chandragupta, and others are currently in custody related to the deal.
