Sri Lanka Air Force launches investigations into Mi-17 helicopter accident

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Air Force Spokesperson Group Captain Dushan Wijesinghe said that investigations have been launched regarding the accident encountered by a helicopter carrying a group of Sri Lankan Air Force personnel engaged in peacekeeping duties.

The spokesperson said that the investigations will be carried out by the Air Force Headquarters under the leadership of an Air Force officer on peacekeeping duty.

An Mi-17 helicopter carrying a group of Sri Lankan Air Force personnel on peacekeeping duty in the Central African Republic met with an accident yesterday.

The accident was caused due to poor weather conditions, and none of the military personnel who were traveling aboard the helicopter were injured.
