Eight people arrested for illegally entering CBSL

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police arrested eight people for unlawfully entering the premises of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka on Tuesday (8) morning.

A group of members from the Small and Medium Scale Entrepreneurs and Civil Organizations Collective gathered near the Central Bank premises, demanding concessions when repaying leasing installments.

Sri Lanka Police had informed them to disperse when they attempted to protest at the CBSL premises.

The group then proceeded to stage their protest at the entrance to the Central Bank of Sri Lanka leading to a heated exchange with Sri Lanka Police.

Thereafter, eight people were arrested by police.
