UK Flights delayed due to a technical issue

COLOMBO (News 1st ) - Thousands of air travellers around the world faced delays on Monday(28) after Britain's air traffic control system was hit by a breakdown that slowed take-offs and landings across the U.K.

UK's Air Traffic Control's computer systems faced a technical glitch hindering activities of both domestic and international airlines.

National Air Traffic Services said the outage had hit its ability to process flight plans automatically, Thus the plans had to be input manually making the process much slower.

Later UK’s air traffic control system said that it had fixed the technical issue that caused heavy delays and cancellations.

Spokesperson for SriLankan Airlines Deepal Perera speaking to News First said that UL503 will not be delayed to land to the UK but the passengers will have to experience some delay in the return flight to Colombo.
