Army gets Special Communication Vehicles under Chinese Grant

The Sri Lanka Army accepted 11 special communication vehicles that had been gifted to the Ministry of Defence under the Chinese Military Grant scheme.

The formal hand over ceremony was headed by Premitha Bandara Tennakoon, State Minister of Defence and General Kamal Gunaratne (Rtd) WWV RWP RSP USP ndc psc MPhil, Secretary to the Ministry of Defence at the Army HQ.

Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army, Major General W.A.S.S Wanasinghe RSP VSV USP ndu, Chief of Staff of the Army and Senior Colonel Zhou Bo, Defence Attaché at the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Sri Lanka were among the distinguished invitees to the occasion.

The formal signing of documents, related to the grant of vehicles took place between Senior Colonel Zhou Bo, Defence Attaché at the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Sri Lanka and Major General K.A.W.S Ratnayake ndu, Chief Signal Officer of the Army.

Subsequently, ten Field Communication Vehicles and a Mobile Command and Control Vehicle were symbolically handed over to State Minister Premitha Bandara Tennakoon by Senior Colonel Zhou Bo in the premises.
