Court prevents protests near National Hospital

COLOMBO (News 1st); A Sri Lankan court issued an order preventing the Organizer of the Labour Struggle Center and several others from protesting and marching around the Colombo National Hospital.

Submissions were made to the Maligakanda Magistrate's Court by the OIC of the Maradana Police, and the order was issued with effect from 10:30 AM on Friday (28) to 10 AM on Saturday (29).

The court order prohibits them from using the pavements opposite the Health Ministry, Hospital Square, Bandaranaike Building of the National Hospital, and the Emergency Ward.

The court applies to ten individuals, including Venerable Tempitiye Sugathananda Thero, Venerable Thenne Gnanananda Thero, Dhammika Munasinghe, Romesh Sameera, and Lahiru Weerasekera.

The order was issued as per the provisions of the Criminal Code of Procedure.
