'Yal Nila Odyssey' to KKS from August 4th

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka will introduce a new train aimed at promoting tourism in the north of the country, on 4th August 2023.

The new train will operate from Mount Lavinia to Kankasanthurai with air-conditioned compartments, and will also include a restaurant compartment as well.

The 'Yal Nila Odyssey' to KKS is expected to leave Mount Lavinia on Friday at 10 PM and reach Kankadanthurai at around 5.52am the next day.

For the return journey, the 'Yal Nila Odyssey' will leave Kankasanthurai at 10 PM on Sunday and is expected to reach Mount Lavinia at around 6 a.m. on Monday.

It is reported that passengers will be charged Rs.4,000 for a first class seat, Rs.3,000 for a second class seat and Rs.2,000 for a third class seat.

The railway stations where the train will stop at are Mount Lavinia, Dehiwala, Wellawatta, Bambalapitiya, Colombo Fort, Gampaha, Veyangoda, Kurunegala, Anuradhapura, Vavuniya, Kilinochchi, Kondavil, Chundikuli and Kankesanthurai. 

However, this train service will only be in operation until December 2023, as renovation work on the railways to Anuradhapura and Mahawa will restart in December.
