Fatal arson attack in Vavuniya, 01 dead

COLOMBO (News 1st) - A tragic incident unfolded in Thonikkal, Vavuniya when a masked group attacked a house where a birthday party was taking place. The assailants set fire to the house, resulting in the death of a 21-year-old resident of Omanthe.

Meanwhile, nine others sustained injuries, including three young children aged 02, 07, and 13 years.

Swift action by the Vavuniya Municipal Council's Fire Department and local residents helped extinguish the fire. However, the motive behind the arson attack is still under investigation, and authorities have launched a probe in this regard.
