LRH doctors on token strike

COLOMBO (News 1st); Doctors attached to the General OPD at the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children in Colombo launced a 24-hour token strike with effect from 8 AM on Wednesday (19).

Spokesperson for the Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) Dr. Chamil Wijesinghe speaking to News 1st said that the token strike was launched against the conduct of a doctor at the hospital.

He said that the female doctor in question was attached ward 8B at the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children and her conduct was inconveniencing the staff.

However, the GMOA stressed that emergency services will continue without any interruption.

Dr. G. Wijesuriya, the Director of the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children told News 1st that the Health Ministry had launched an inquiry over the matter, and a report is expected to be made available on Friday.
