President meets Tamil MPs; Discusses Anti-Terror & Anti-Corruption Bills

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe on Tuesday (18) met with the Tamil parliamentarians representing the North and East of the country.

According to the President's Media Division, the President discussed the Anti-Terrorism Bill, and noted that the Drafting Committee is expected to review the EU proposals.

He had noted that while amendments will be discussed, after appropriate action, the bill will be re-gazetted.

President Wickremesinghe told Tamil Parliamentarians from the North & East that the Anti-Corruption Law will undergo Committee Stage amendments in Parliament on July 19th & Supreme Court's proposed amendments will be considered.

This was confirmed by the President's Media Division.

The PMD went onto note that the Interim Secretariat for the Truth Seeking Mechanism was established with the Director General being appointed. 

It added that the formal mechanism will commence after the necessary law is enacted.
