Seetha Amman Kovil Holds Grand Kumbhabhishekam Pooja

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Seetha Amman Kovil, a Hindu temple located in Seetha Eliya village, Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka, celebrated its grand Kumbhabhishekam Pooja on Sunday (19).

This elaborate ceremony signifies the renewal and energizing of the temple's main idol deity.

The Kumbhabhishekam poojas are believed to transform the idol into a powerful source of positive energy.

For this special occasion, the Seetha Amman Kovil received sacred offerings from both Ayodhya, considered the birthplace of Lord Rama, and Nepal, believed to be the birthplace of Goddess Sita.

A group of dignitaries attended the ceremony, including Indian MP V. Radhakrishnan, Chairman of the Seetha Amman Kovil Board of Trustees Dinesh Chandra Ji, and Chairman of the Ram Mandi Administrative Council in Ayodhya. Additionally, Global Peace Ambassador and Indian Spiritual Leader, Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, graced the event with his presence.

The ceremony began with the anointing of the Gopuram (temple tower) with purified water. This water was then used to perform the Maha Kumbhabhishekam on the idols of Sri Rama, Goddess Sita, Lakshmana, and Hanuman during an auspicious moment.

A large number of devotees from around the world, including India and Sri Lanka, gathered to witness and participate in the Kumbhabhishekam Pooja.

The ceremony culminated in the offering of garments sent from India and Nepal for Goddess Sita, along with sweetmeats and other materials sent from the renowned Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Tirupati, India.
