COLOMBO (News 1st) - President Ranil Wickremesinghe left the island on Saturday (17) morning to take on his official visit to France and the United Kingdom.

During this trip, the President will join an international Summit for a New Global Financing Pact that is scheduled to be held in Paris on the 22nd and 23rd of June.

French President Emmanuel Macron has invited President Ranil Wickremesinghe to address a high-profile discussion council at this summit as well.

The Presidential Media Division says that the summit will be held in Paris on the 22nd and 23rd of June.

The International Summit for a New Global Financing Pact is being held this year under the theme "Finding solutions to the pressing challenges the world faces today".

The need to urgently find solutions to the multiple crises that have plagued the global community is to be discussed at this summit.
