Colombo (News 1st) - Australia were crowned Cricket World Test Champions, defeating India by 209 runs in the final of the second edition of the World Championship at The Oval in London on Sunday.

The team from DOwn Under became the first nation to win all four ICC trophies - ODI, T20i, Champions Trophy and Test Championship.

Set a target of 444 to win, India were never in the hunt and lost wickets regularly throughout their inning to fold for 234 with none of the batsmen able to play a long inning and score even a half-century. Nathan Lyon took 4 wickets for 41, while Scott Boland 3 wickets for 46.

Travis Head was chosen as Player of the Match for his 163 in the first inning.

New Zealand took the inaugural Test Championship two years ago, in the tournament that crowns a champion every two years.

SCORES: Australia 469 (Travis Head 163, Steve Smith 121) and 270/8 declared (Alex Carey 66 not out). India 296 (Ajinkya Rahane 89) and 234.
