COLOMBO (News 1st); The head of Sri Lanka's Catholic Church His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith said that he has no faith in the country's leadership in securing justice for Easter Attacks victims.

He was speaking at a special memorial organized to remember the victims of the 2019 April 21st Terror Attacks.

"Although on the surface it looks like Islamic extremists carried out these attacks, the Parliament Select Committee report clearly states that a political conspiracy was behind it," he noted.

He also said that local authorities are attempting to label the Former Attorney General Dappula De Livera as a perpetrator instead of using him as a witness.

"Former Attorney General Dappula De Livera on the 17th of May 2021 in an interview with News 1st's Zulfick Farzan made a statement, and instead of making him a witness based on that, they are trying to make an accused, and inconvenience him. It is clear that the Police and Security Forces are doing so to cover up their inability to trace the real perpetrators," he added.

His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith noted that local authorities focus on perusing the 130-page report given to the country's Police Chief by Former Attorney General Dappula De Livera and conduct investigations on the content.

"We are awake until justice is done," he stressed in his concluding remarks.
