Colombo (News 1st) - Legendary saxophonist Wayne Shorter, whose career spanned eight decades, 23 Grammy nominations and a dozen Grammy Awards, has died in Los Angeles aged 89.
Shorter gained fame in the 1950s and would go on to play alongside other contemporary greats in music including Miles Davis, Carlos Santana and Herbie Hancock.
He released several solo albums, one of which, 'Heavy Weather in 1977', went Platinum.
He received a Lifetime Achievement Grammy Award in 2015.
