Violent clashes broke out in Lahore late Tuesday as Pakistani police fired tear gas and water cannons in attempts to disperse supporters of Opposition Leader Imran Khan who surrounded Khan’s house to prevent his arrest.
Protesters threw rocks at police, who arrived in armored vehicles, Pakistani media reported.
Khan’s whereabouts were not immediately clear. But he made a video appeal on Twitter calling on his supporters to “fight for their real freedom”.
