Pope appoints new Bishop of Chilaw

COLOMBO (News 1st); His Holiness Pope Francis has appointed Rev. Fr. Arachchige Don Wimal Siri Appuhamy Jayasuriya as the new Bishop of Chilaw.

The announcement was made by the Apostolic Nunciature in Sri Lanka on Wednesday (6).

Rev. Fr. Jayasirya was born on the 23rd of January 1969, and was ordained as a priest for the Diocese of Chilaw on 9th August 1997.

Until this appointment, Rev. Fr. Jayasuriya was on a mission in the USA as the Parish Priest of Saint Mary Mother of God Parish, Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend, and Judge of the Diocean Tribunal.
