Sri Lanka Police Prioritize Holiday Security, Curtailing operation Yukthiya

The operation Yukthiya dubbed "Justice" has been temporarily scaled back in light of the festive season, focusing police resources on securing Catholic churches, Police Spokesperson, SSP Nihal Thalduwa said.

Despite the reduced operations, police remain vigilant, ready to conduct raids based on public tip-offs. 

In the past six days alone, the ongoing justice operation has led to the arrest of 12,132 suspects and the seizure of over 8kg of heroin, 4kg of ICE, and 269kg of Marijuana.

Further action has been taken against 636 suspects, with detention orders obtained. 

Additionally, illegal asset investigations have been initiated for 151 individuals, and 998 suspects have been referred for rehabilitation.
