COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka's Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe informed the parliament on Tuesday (7), that President Ranil Wickremesinghe urged him to withdraw the Interim Committee for Sri Lanka Cricket.
"After the Cabinet meeting, the President called me to the office and told me to withdraw the appointment of the Interim Committee. If not, I will take the sports law under my wing," the Minister informed the house.
The Minister said that the country's new sports law is being prepared, and he was hoping to present it to the cabinet of ministers for approval, and move forward.
Roshan Ranasinghe went on to note that he informed the President to take necessary decisions after sacking him as the minister of sports.
"I said that I would not withdraw the committee that was appointed," he said, adding that the SLC is involved in a series of malpractices.
