COLOMBO (News 1st); The Criminal Investigations Department recorded a statement from the Secretary to the Ministry of Health Janaka Sri Chandragupta.

The statement was recorded in connection to the alleged incident of substandard Human Immunoglobulin being brought to Sri Lanka.

The owner of Isolez Biotech was recently arrested and remanded until the 15th of November on charges of supplying substandard Human Immunoglobulin to the Medical Supplies Division of the Ministry of Health.

The 57-year-old suspect is a resident of Raddolugama.

It was recently revealed that 22,500 vials of substandard Human Immunoglobulin, which is produced using human blood, were ordered by preparing false documents.

Initially, it was stated that these vials were imported, but later it was revealed that they were manufactured in Sri Lanka.

Earlier, Former Minister of Health Keheliya Rambukwella said saline or a similar solution was sold to the Health Ministry as Human Immunoglobulin.

The value of the stock of medicine was estimated at nearly Rs.1 billion.
