Showers or thundershowers expected; Minor flood warnings issued to some areas

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Met Department predicts showers or thundershowers across several parts of Sri Lanka after 2 pm on Wednesday (01).

Heavy showers about 100mm are likely at some places in the  Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Uva provinces and in the Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts.

Showers will occur in the Eastern, North-Central and Northwestern provinces and in the Matale and Badulla districts during the morning too.

In the meantime, the Department of Irrigation warns that the water levels of the Attanagalu Oya and Nilwala river are on the rise.

Director of Hydrology and Disaster Management S.P.C Sugeeshwara said a minor flood warning was issued to several areas, as a result.
