Increase in dengue in Northern and Eastern provinces - NDCU reports

The spread of Dengue in the Northern and Eastern provinces is expected to rise considering the upcoming Northeast monsoon, The National Dengue Control Unit said.

An increase in dengue larvae was reported due to heavy showers in these areas during the past few years, Director of NDCU Dr. Nalin Ariyaratne said.

People must identify places where mosquitoes breed in and around their houses and take steps to remove them, He added

Meanwhile the Met Department predicts showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, and North-western provinces and in the Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts. 

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the Eastern and Uva provinces, and in the Polonnaruwa and Mullaitivu districts during the evening or night.
