Specialist Dr. Ananda Wijewickrama appointed NMRA Chairman

COLOMBO (News 1st); Specialist Dr. Ananda Wijewickrama has been appointed as the new Chairman of the National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA).

The decision was reached when the Board of Directors convened on Tuesday (31).

Minister of Health Dr. Ramesh Pathirana had taken measures to convene the Board of Directors of the NMRA.

Many factions have raised allegations against the NMRA over the importation of substandard medicines, use of substandard medicines and data deletion.

President Ranil Wickremesinghe recently appointed Dr. Ramesh Pathirana as the Health Minister, amidst such a backdrop.

Former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella was appointed as the Minister of Environment.
