COLOMBO (News 1st); Afghanistan and Sri Lanka will both be out to even up their win-loss record and give their hopes of reaching the knockout stages a huge boost, when the sides meet in Pune this afternoon.

Afghanistan will take on Sri Lanka in the 30th ODI World Cup 2023 match at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune. 

Both sides have surged back into semi-final contention with giant-killing victories, as Afghanistan stunned Pakistan and Sri Lanka made it two on the trot with a win over titleholders England.

Sri Lanka have been hit by further injury with in-form pacer Lahiru Kumara the latest in their squad to be sidelined, and ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 Event Technical Committee officially approved the inclusion of Dushmantha Chameera to replace him.

Both Afghanistan and Sri Lanka have won 2 of their 5 matches so far.

Sri Lanka are in the fifth position with a much better net run rate (NRR) while the Afghans are in the seventh position. 

These two teams have played 11 ODIs against each other so far. Sri Lanka have won 7 of those and Afghanistan 3. One match did not produce any results. 

The game between Afghanistan and Sri Lanka will start at 2 PM Sri Lanka time, and Cricket fans can catch all the action live via the MTV / MBC Media Network, the official local broadcast rights holders of the ICC Cricket World Cup.
