Showers above 50mm expected today (27)

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Department of Meteorology predicted fairly heavy showers above 50mm in the Western and Sabaragamuwa province and in the Galle and Matara districts.

The Department said except for the Northern, North Central and Eastern provinces, showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the other areas of the island after 02.00 p.m.

The landslide warning issued by the National Building Research Organization (NBRO) for several divisional secretariats in nine districts is in effect till Friday (27) afternoon.

The landslide warnings are in effect in the Badulla, Ratnapura, Galle, Hambantota, Kegalle, Kandy, Matara, Ratnapura and Nuwara Eliya districts.
