Avatar 2: The Way of Water becomes sixth ever film to gross USD 2 billion

Colombo (News 1st) - Avatar 2: The Way of Water became only the sixth film ever to gross more than USD 2 billion in worldwide box office sales when it crossed that threshold last weekend, foreign media reported.

Remarkably, three of the six movies that crossed the USD 2 billion mark were directed by James Cameron. At the top of the list is Cameron's Avatar in 2009 which grossed USD 2,922,917,914. In second place is Avengers: Endgame which earned USD 2,797,501,328. The third is Cameron's Titanic with USD 2,187,535,296. Fourth is Star Wars: The Force Awakens at USD 2,068,223,624 and fifth is Avengers: Infinity War at USD 2,048,359,754.

Cameron has already announced that he will release three more sequels in the Avatar series.
