COLOMBO (News 1st); Long queues were seen in filling stations in several parts of the country on Tuesday (15) until midnight.
Many of them said that they had to wait inline for more than 2 hours to get fuel.
However, the Ministry of Energy said that $42 mn will be paid on Wednesday (16) for the fuel ship that arrives in the country.
Secretary to the Ministery of Energy, K.D.R Olga stated that it would be possible to unload fuel from Wednesday (16).
She said that the ship transported 22,000 MT of Diesel and 22,000 MT of Jet fuel.
The Secretary stated that a diesel ship will arrive in the island on the 20th or 21st of March, via the Indian Credit Facility offered to Sri Lanka.
In the meantime, she said that 37,500 MT of Diesel is currently being unloaded from a ship that arrived in the country.
