CA calls for Audio/Video comments by Sanath Nishantha

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Court of Appeal on Thursday (10) ordered the Attorney General to produce all audio and video material of State Minister Sanath Nishantha's comments to the media at a media briefing held on the 28th of August at the SLPP Head Office premises.

The material is expected to be produced in court on the 12th of November, and the order was made when a case filed against the State Minister for alleged contempt of court was taken up.

The Appeal Court ordered the State Minister to appear in court in person on the 12th of November 2022.

Senior State Counsel Hasini Opatha appearing for the Attorney General informed the court that the preparation of the charge sheet against the State Minister is underway and is yet to be completed.

State Minister Sanath Nishantha, who is a respondent in the case, appear in court in person on Thursday (10) as per a previous court order.

The plant against Sanath Nishantha was filed by Attorneys Priyalal Sirisena, Vijitha Kumara and the Judicial Services Commission.
