Bank Accounts of Wijeyadasa's Son Suspended

COLOMBO (News 1st); Several bank accounts belonging to Rakitha Rajapakshe, the son of former Justice Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe, have been suspended.

The action has been taken under the provisions of the law relating to proceeds derived from criminal activity.

The move is linked to an ongoing investigation being conducted by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC). 

As part of that investigation, a group of Commission officers visited his residence in Nawala yesterday to hand over the relevant notice pertaining to the suspension of the accounts.

However, the Bribery Commission stated that Rakitha Rajapakshe was not at home at the time the officers arrived to serve the notice.
