Police Issue Warning Over Scams Through Dating Apps

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Police Media Division has urged the public to exercise extreme caution when using online dating apps.

Police warned that scammers are approaching online friendship, romantic relationshiops and marriage proposals to defraud individuals into various financial scams. 

The public has also been advised not to install unfamiliar or suspicious applications on their mobile phones.

The Police Media Division further warned people against sharing bank details, OTPs, passwords or other personal information, as well as photographs and videos, with strangers.
