COLOMBO (News 1st): Sri Lanka's electricity consumers will not be forced to bear the financial burden of losses resulting from the recent power outage, Energy Minister Anura Karunathilaka has assured.

The minister said an investigation into the incident is already underway, with the Secretary to the Ministry examining the circumstances that led to the outage.

Addressing concerns over electricity tariffs, the minister revealed that relevant institutions have already informed the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) that there is no requirement to increase electricity prices during the next quarter, which runs from October to December.

He emphasized that under no circumstances does the government intend to transfer losses arising from the power outage, or any related losses, onto electricity consumers.
