Norochcholai Units 03 and 01 Set for Grid Reconnection

COLOMBO (News 1st): The National System Operator states that Unit 03 of the Norochcholai Lakvijaya Power Plant is scheduled to be reconnected to the national grid this morning.

The NSO further mentioned that Unit 01 is also planned to be added to the national grid by this afternoon.

The total electricity capacity generated and added to the national grid from all these power units is 810 megawatts.

Meanwhile, the NSO stated yesterday that there will be no need for daily power management.

A nationwide power failure occurred at 11:43 AM last Saturday, the 17th, due to an imbalance in the transmission system.

As a result, all three generator units at the Norochcholai Lakvijaya Coal Power Plant failed, leading the National System Operator Company to divide the island into 4 zones and implement one-hour daily power management to regulate the electricity supply.
