COLOMBO (News 1st): The Fort Magistrate's Court today rejected a motion filed by former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa seeking permission to travel abroad for medical treatment.

The rejection was due to a date conflict/discrepancy in the submitted motion.

When the case was called today, Additional Solicitor General Dileepa Peiris, appearing for the Attorney General, informed the court that former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has not yet been named as a suspect in the Criminal Investigation Department's (CID) ongoing investigation into the Easter Sunday terror attacks.

The Additional Solicitor General noted that, for this reason, the request to lift the travel ban could be considered on humanitarian grounds if required.
