Three Killed as Out-of-Control Cement Mixer Ploughs Into Vehicles in Akurana

COLOMBO (News 1st); Three people have been killed following a major road accident in the Kurugoda Seven Mile Post area of Akurana, after a cement mixer truck collided with several vehicles, police said.

According to police, the accident occurred when the cement mixer crashed into multiple vehicles, resulting in significant casualties and injuries.

Hospital authorities said injured victims were continuing to be brought to medical facilities for treatment as emergency response efforts remained underway.

A spokesperson for the Akurana Hospital confirmed that a number of injured persons had been admitted, while two individuals who were in critical condition were transferred to the National Hospital in Kandy for specialized treatment.

The full extent of the injuries and damage caused by the collision has not yet been confirmed.
