President Vows Equal Justice, Action Against Corruption

COLOMBO (News 1st):President Anura Kumara Dissanayake says those opposing the equal application of the law have yet to accept the principle of equality before the law.

Addressing a rally in Nikaweratiya today, the President said the law was being enforced equally, regardless of who was involved.

He also announced plans to establish a Bribery Commission in every province.

The President further pledged to bring back to Sri Lanka those accused of stealing public assets, regardless of where they are hiding in the world, to face justice.

He stressed that Sri Lanka would pursue an independent foreign policy without aligning itself with any other country.

The President also stated that three expressways were being constructed using public funds alone, describing it as a first in the country's history
