Over 25 Daily Complaints Over Fraudulent Use of Vehicle Registration Certificates

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Department of Motor Traffic says it receives more than 25 complaints daily over the fraudulent use of vehicle registration certificates.

The Department has urged vehicle owners to keep their vehicle registration certificates in a secure place to prevent them from falling into the wrong hands.

Investigations have revealed that fraudsters use vehicle registration books to illegally transfer vehicle ownership to other individuals or sell vehicles without authorisation.

The Department also noted that incidents of vehicle theft have been reported following such fraudulent transfers.
