COLOMBO (News 1st) - Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa says the law of the country is enforced equally for everyone through the judicial process.
He made these remarks following a meeting held yesterday.
Minister stated that all legal action is being taken in accordance with the law, with investigations conducted by the Police, FCID, CID and CIABOC before matters are referred to court.
He said decisions on bail, remanding suspects and other legal proceedings are matters for the independent judiciary, where suspects have the opportunity to present their case through their lawyers.
The Minister stressed that the Government does not interfere in judicial decisions, which are based on the evidence before the courts.
He said the Government’s responsibility is to provide the necessary infrastructure and support for the law to be effectively enforced.
He added that those who wish to challenge or raise concerns about proceedings can use established legal and institutional channels, while emphasizing that the ongoing actions are being carried out according to the country's law.
