CIABOC Arrests Former Commissioner of Land Settlement

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has arrested former Commissioner of the Department of Land Title Settlement, Male Pathirange Nishantha Mohan Wickremasinghe.

CIABOC stated the suspect had used the institution’s letterhead to issue an investigation report under an irregular investigation number during his tenure as the Commissioner at the Department of Land Title Settlement misusing his official powers. 

By issuing a report he had portrayed a state owned land as a privately owned land. 

The state-owned land in question which is located at No. 30, Elliott Road, Borella measuring for 1.0982 hectares was valued at Rs.1.586 Bn.

CIABOC said the suspect was arrested on charges of corruption and causing a loss to the State while conferring an undue benefit on another party.

The suspect is due to be produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court.
