CID Seeks More Statements In Case Against Gota's Ex-Secretary

COLOMBO (News1st); Sugeeshwara Bandara, the former private secretary to former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, was further remanded until October 7 after being produced before Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasena.

The suspect was previously arrested and remanded by the Central Crimes Investigation Bureau in connection with an investigation into the alleged receipt of salary payments for two positions under the Presidential Expenditure Head.

When the suspect was produced before court on Wednesday, investigators updated the court on the progress of the ongoing inquiry.

Officials informed the court that investigations are continuing and that statements are yet to be recorded from a further 50 individuals in relation to the case.

Following consideration of the facts presented by investigators, the court ordered that Sugeeshwara Bandara be further remanded until October 7 as the investigation continues.
