Tri-Forces Ready to Respond to Disaster Emergencies

COLOMBO (News1st);Secretary of Defence, Air Vice Marshal (Retd) Sampath Thuyacontha states that the tri-forces have been prepared to respond in the event of an emergency disaster situation.

He mentioned that all military camps in the necessary areas have been instructed to remain ready to provide relief to the public and deploy as needed.

Meanwhile, the Navy states that 171 disaster relief teams have been kept on standby.

The Navy further specified that 14 relief teams have already been deployed by the Southern and Western Naval Commands.

Accordingly, relief teams have been stationed and readied in the Hiniduma, Mapalagama, Nawalapitiya, Yatiyantota, and Ratnapura areas, the Navy added.
